PUNE: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the online education technology sector needed a set of self-governance SOPs to prevent exploitation and stressed the need to implement the NEP and roll out multidisciplinary education while addressing a round-table of academics to discuss the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020. Pradhan was addressing a gathering organised by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) on its Lavale campus. Prominent academics and professors from institutions in Maharashtra "Online education is a reality, but it is not a comfortable model right now. We are considering setting up a digital university. The government does not want to restrict edu-tech firms, but I would urge these companies to bring in a set of self- governance SOPs. Edutech should not be exploitative, and there should be guidelines in place," said Pradhan.
